An Olympic goal is a goal scored in
football (soccer) directly from a corner kick, without another player touching it.Origins
The name originates, according to South American sources, from the year 1924. Uruguay, the reigning Olympic champions, were defeated in
Sportivo Barracas ' field by local rivals Argentina, on 2 October 1924. A goal direct from a corner byCesáreo Onzari in the 15th minute helped Argentina win the game 2-1. The amazing feat was termed "Gol olímpico" from then on.
