The Prosperous Peasant

The Prosperous Peasant

"The Prosperous Peasant: Five Secrets of Fortune & Fulfillment from the Samurai's Temple School" by Tim Clark is a book of parables set in sixteenth century Japan. Based on true historical incidents and characters from the Age of Warring Clans (Sengoku period), the book centers around a quest by two farmers to meet with and seek advice from Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a former peasant who rose rapidly to prosperity and fame under the mentorship of Oda Nobunaga, the first great unifier of feudal Japan. The book includes an abridgment of the complete text of "", Nitobe’s classic explication of the chivalrous samurai code.

"The Prosperous Peasant"'s use of parables to illustrate principles of personal success is inspired by "The Richest Man in Babylon", the classic book about personal finance, first published in 1926.
