John E. Carisi (Feb. 23, 1922 - Oct. 3, 1992) was an American trumpeter and
composer .Carisi was member of
Herbie Fields 's Orchestra (1938-1943) andGlen Miller 's "Airforce Band". After the war he worked withRay McKinley ,Claude Thornhill ,Charlie Barnet ,Urbie Green , andBenny Goodman .He was trained by acclaimed composer
Stefan Wolpe . His minor-blues composition "Israel" has been performed and recorded by notedjazz artists such asMiles Davis ("Birth of the Cool "),Bill Evans , orGil Evans .He worked with
Cecil Taylor on an album forImpulse! in 1961, and arrangedMarvin Stamm 's 1968 album "Machinations".elected discography
