- Jean-Guy Cardinal
Jean-Guy Cardinal was a
nationalistpolitician in Quebec, Canada.
He was born on
March 10, 1925in Montreal, Quebec.
Less than a year later, Premier Johnson died. Cardinal won a
by-electionand took over Johnson's seat to the National Assembly of Quebec. However, he lost his bid to become his party's leader against Jean-Jacques Bertrandon June 21, 1969.
In the subsequent years, Cardinal joined the
Parti Québécois, as did many of his former colleagues from the Union Nationale such as Antonio Flamand, Raynald Fréchetteand Jérôme Proulx. In 1976, he was returned to the legislature as the MNA for the district of Prévost and became Deputy Speakerof the National Assembly.
He died in office on
March 16, 1979.
