Mark Benedict Coleridge DD B.A. DSS (born 25 September 1948 in Melbourne, Victoria) is the Catholic Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn, Australia. He was previously Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne, Australia.

Early life

Coleridge is the third of five children of Bernard Coleridge and Marjorie Harvey (both deceased). He was educated at Saint Joseph's School, Tranmere, South Australia, Rostrevor College, Adelaide, and St. Kevin's College, Toorak. Coleridge entered Corpus Christi College, Werribee as a Melbourne Seminarian, and also studied with the seminary as it moved to Glen Waverley and Clayton.

Priesthood

On 18 May 1974 in St Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne, Mark Coleridge was ordained priest by Bishop John A. Kelly, Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne. He was sent to the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome ("The Biblicum") for the Licentiate in Sacred Scripture, which he received in 1984. Coleridge was awarded the Biblicum's doctorate for his dissertation on the Infancy Narrative in Luke's Gospel in April 1992.

Episcopate

On 3 May 2002 Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Melbourne. On 19 June 2006 he was appointed Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn, the first Australian episcopal appointment of Pope Benedict XVI.

Archbishop Coleridge is a member of the Bishops Commission for Doctrine and Morals and Chairman of the Bishops Commission for Liturgy.
