Carmale (also known as "Armale") is a district in the Sanaag region, a territory disputed by the Puntland and Somaliland administrative regions of Somalia. In July 2007, the district became part of the Maakhir autonomous region of Somalia.

The town is located in Hadeed Plateau, a tract of land that covers the middle of a large area of the Sool Plateau
