Gondia District, also known as Gondiya District, is an administrative district in the state of
Maharashtra inIndia . The district headquarters are located atGondia (Gondiya). The district occupies anarea of 5,431 km² and has apopulation of 1,200,707 of which 11.95% were urban (as of2001 ). The district is divided into 2 sub-divisions,
Gondia andDeori which are further divided into 8 talukas. Each sub-divisions consist 4 talukas. The Gondia sub-division consists Gondia, Goregaon,Tiroda andArjuni More talukas while Deori sub-division consists Deori,Amgaon ,Salekasa andSadak Arjuni talukas. The district consists 556Gram panchayat s, 8Panchayat Samiti s and 954 revenue villages. Two municiplities in this district are Gondia andTiroda .The district has 6 Vidhan Sabha constituencies, Gondia, Tiroda, Goregaon, Amgaon, Lakhandur and Sakoli. Lakhandur and Sakoli constituencies include parts of area of the Bhandara district also.
