Dr. Larry N. Vanderhoef (born 1941) is currently the chancellor of University of California, Davis.The University of California Board of Regents named him the fifth chancellor of UC Davis in 1994. He has served on various national commissions addressing graduate and international education, the role of a modern land-grant university, and accrediting issues. On June 2, 2008 Dr. Vanderhoef announced that he would step down as chancellor on June 30, 2009 [cite web|url=http://chancellor.ucdavis.edu/remarks/060208_Vanderhoef_Leadership_Transition.pdf|title=Letter: To Step Down in June 2009|accessdate=2008-06-02] .

Dr. Vanderhoef's research interests include the general area of plant growth and development, and in the evolution of the land-grant universities. He has taught classes at levels from freshman to advanced graduate study. Vanderhoef received his B.A. and M.S. in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Ph.D. in plant biochemistry from Purdue University.
