|TV5 Užice (Serbian: ΤВ5 Ужице) is a
Serbia n television network aired locally to the city ofUžice in Western Serbia. It is privately owned and the most watched local network in Užice.History
TV5 first aired in July 1994. It faced a range of hardships in its early years. At the time, in the then known
Yugoslavia civil war was ranging. The then minister of information and mediaAleksandar Vučić made it his goal to shut down all free networks opposed to the political regime in the country at the time. TV5 Užice as a network who did not fall in line with Vučić barely survived in the 90’s with all funding cut and heavy transmission interference. With a democratic change in government, the end of war and oppression against Serbia the network was again able to grow and broaden its horizons both content and technically wise.Today TV5 covers the territory of around 320.000 potential viewers. The most watched programmes are the news and current affairs broadcast by the network. It is one of the most watched Užice-based television stations.
Programming
TV5 Užice produces two news bulletins daily. One is aired at 7.00PM and the other at 10.00PM. Some other news and current affairs programmes include Info press, Sport 2000, The Hague Tribunal.
The network also airs a few international shows, documentaries, cartoons and movies. 40% of the air times dedicated to news and current affairs, 40% to educational programmes and 20% to entertainment programmes.
