Omar Jesús Merlo (born 12 June 1987 in Santa Fe) is an Argentine football defender who plays for Unión San Felipe in Chile.

Merlo made his first team debut for Colón de Santa Fe in 2006, and quickly established himself as a regular member of the first team squad. He signed for River Plate in February 2008.

Merlo was part of the River Plate squad that won the Clausura 2008 tournament, but he did not actually play in any of the games. In January 2009 he returned to Colón.
