- Aetnaville Bridge
The Aetnaville Bridge was built late in the season in December 1891. It linked the village of Aetnaville, which is part of what is now considered
Bridgeport, Ohio to Wheeling Island, which is part ofWheeling, West Virginia . The bridge once carried people to and from theOhio andWest Virginia sides of theOhio River until the bridge was shut down in December 1988, due to safety concerns. The bridge still stands today and is mostly used as a way for pedestrians to cross without having to go all the way around to the new Bridgeport Bridge.See also
