HMS Dominica (K507)

HMS Dominica (K507)

HMS "Dominica" (K507) was a Colony-class frigate of the United Kingdom during World War II.

The ship, originally named "Harman" and designated a Patrol Gunboat (PG-187), was built under Maritime Commission contract by Walsh-Kaiser Co., Inc., Providence, R.I. Intended for use by the United Kingdom, she was reclassified as a Patrol Frigate (PF-79) on 15 April 1943, renamed "Dominica", and launched on 14 September 1943, sponsored by Mrs. Andrew D. Manchester. "Dominica" was then completed and transferred to the United Kingdom under Lend-Lease on 25 January 1944 as part of the 21-ship "Colony" class. She served as a patrol vessel and escort until being returned to the United States on 23 April 1946. The frigate was subsequently sold to Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co., Chester, Pennsylvania, on 27 March 1947 and scrapped.
