Edward Denis Kelly (

Edward Denis Kelly was born in
Hartford, Michigan , to Thomas and Mary (née Hannon) Kelly. He was ordained to the priesthood onJune 16 ,1886 by Bishop Caspar Borgess. Kelly was then assigned to pastoral andseminary work in Michigan.On
December 9 ,1910 , he was appointedAuxiliary Bishop of Detroit andTitular Bishop of "Cestrus". He received his episcopal consecration on the followingJanuary 26 fromJames Cardinal Gibbons , with Bishops Henry Richter and Camillus Maes serving as co-consecrators. Kelly was promoted to Bishop of Grand Rapids onJanuary 16 ,1919 , and was installed on the followingMay 20 .Kelly died at the episcopal residence in Grand Rapids from a hemorrhage or
