Richard Alldridge (
1815-05-03 –1896-02-14 ) was aLatter-day Saint hymnwritter who wrote two hymns in the 1985 English edition of the hymnal ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . These are "Lord Accept Our True Devotion" and "We'll Sing All Hail To Jesus Name".Alldridge was born in
Birmingham ,England . He married Ann Blunt inNorthampton . They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints sometime between 1837 and 1840.Alldridge had five of his hymns published in the church's 1840
Manchester Hymnal . Besides the two in the 1985 LDS Church hymnal there were also "O Lord Accept Our Songs of Praise", "How Dark and Gloomy Was the Night" and "O Lord Preserve Thy Chosen Seed".Alldridge emigrated to
Utah Territory with his wife and two children in 1861. They crossed the plains in the company headed byIra Eldredge .Alldridge died in Cedar City,
