Infinite bounce

Infinite bounce

Infinite bounce is a quiz format.

This format is generally used when the number of teams in the quiz is large - usually around 8-10. Every question is addressed to the team succeeding the team that answered the previous question. If no team answers the question, the next question is addressed to the team succeeding the team to whom the previous question was addressed.

Therefore in a way, the questions bounce from one team to another until they are answered. This format removes the bias that is present in traditional quizzing formats where the inability to answer direct questions (where points awarded are usually double that of a passed on question) sometimes can spell doom for a team, even though they might have answered a larger number of questions overall.

Points earned for each question are equal, irrespective of whether it was a direct question or a passed on question.

Infinite Bounce is also called Infinite Rebounds by some quizzers.

A modification of infinite bounce, called "Modified Infinite Bounce" was pioneered by the IITM Open Quiz, in which, after an unanswered question, the next question goes to the team with which the earlier one started.
