Thiruvenkadu

Thiruvenkadu is the location of a famous Navagraha temple in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the planet Mercury (one of the nine Navagrahas) is also worshipped here. The temple is located close to the Vaitheeswaran Temple (about 14 kilometers)on the road from Sirkali to Poompuhar. This temple has 3 theerthams - Agni, Chandran and Suryan. Main deity is Shiva - Swetharanyeswarar (means lord of white forest) and Goddess is Brahma Vidya ambal. There is a separate Sannidhi for Bhudhan(mercuty). The temple is quite large and all 4 important Saivite saints have sung in praise of this lord.
