Career
He learnt to play chess at the age of 6. Zhou was the runner-up of the National Individual Championship and joint runner-up of the World Team Championship in 2005. Zhou qualified for the
Chess World Cup 2007 (held inKhanty-Mansiysk ) where he reached Round Three. He eventually lost toMichael Adams after having upsetEmil Sutovsky andAndrei Volokitin in the first two rounds. In this tournament he achieved aperformance rating of 2687.GM title
He achieved his first
GM norm at the 2005Aeroflot Open (A2 Group) having scored 6/9 (Elo rating perf. of 2727).
