40th Military Police Detachment

The 40th Military Police Detachment is a military police unit of the United States army.

Formation and World War II

The 40th Military Police Criminal Investigation Detachment was constituted and allotted to the Regular Army & assigned to the Quartermaster General on January 22, 1943 during World War II.

Post-war

On February 3, 1953, after the Korean War, it was activated at the Sharpe General Depot in Lathrop, California. On March 31, 1954, it was inactivated in the same location.

On February 9, 1955 it was assigned to the First Army, and activated at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Vietnam War

On September 19, 1965 – Departed Fort Dix on a permanent change of station and arrived in Vietnam for the Vietnam War. On October 15, 1968, it was inactivated at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam.

Present

On June 16, [2000] , it was reactivated at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
