Patty Fendick is a former professional women's tennis player [http://www.tenniscorner.net/index.php?corner=w&action=highlight&playerid=FEP001] and is the current head women's tennis coach at the University of Texas.
She was born on March 31, 1965 in Sacramento, California and played collegiately at
Stanford University , where the team won the NCAA title three times. In 1987, she was named ITA player of the year, after enjoying a 57 match winning streak on the Stanford tennis team. She won two NCAA Singles Titles in '86 and '87.She turned professional in May 1987 and won three singles titles, including two straight wins in
Auckland in 1988 and 1989 and the Tokyo tournament in 1988. She was named WTA Tour "Rookie of the Year" in 1987.In addition to winning the Australian Open Women's Doubles title with
Mary Joe Fernandez in 1991, she also reached the final of the Australian Open doubles in 1989, 1990 and 1994 and the final of the U.S. Open Women's Doubles in 1988. She achieved her highest singles ranking of 19 on March 27, 1989 and a doubles ranking of 4 on July 3 in the same year.Fendick retired in September 1995 and married former tennis tour player and Cal coach Scott McCain, with whom she has two daughters and a son. She was the coach of the
University of Washington women's team from 1997-2005. In 2005, she took the Texas women's tennis head coach position. She was named the NCAAs most outstanding player of the first 25 years of NCAA women's tennis.External links
