The Auvézère (Occitan dialect: "Auvesera") is a French stream in the Dordogne department. It is a tributary of the Isle, itself a tributary of the Dordogne river.

Geography

The river begins at 480 m above sea level in the Massif Central mountains in the Haute-Vienne department and the Limousin region. Its source is south of the commune of Saint-Germain-les-Belles. The river runs through the Corrèze department, in the area Périgord Vert. In the Dordogne department, it flows into the river Isle in Bassillac. Near Cubjac, at the Moulin de Soucis, part of its water is diverged to the Isle.

Hydrology

The Auvézère is an abundant river, with the part of the water course. It observed during the period of 28 years (between 1976 and 2007), the area is situated ahead of Isle River. The surface study extend to 884 km².

The annual river flow at Le Change station is 8.52 m³/s

Auvézère is a river with seasonal flows. High water levels occur during winter and early spring, with median flows between 12.2 and 16.8 m³/s, between December and April includes (with the maximum level in January). During May, the flow rapidly diminises to 4.62 m³/s in June. The waterlevel drops between July and September; the water flow is 1.87 m³/s in August.

The VCN3 calculated at 0.22 m³/s, in which during the 50 year period, 200 l/s, in which it qualifies for a severe flow.

The QIX 2 and QIX 3 calculated the empty by a biennial and a 50-year banks, respectively 110 and 160 m³/s. The QIX 10 calculates the flow at a decennial flow at 190 m³/s and QIX 20 at 220 m³/s. QIX 50 calculated at 260 m³/s.

The instantaneous maximal debit registers at Change during a certain period, a year with 182 m³/s in January 7, 1982, in which a maximum flow recorded at 158 m³/s in January 11, 1996. This compares with the maximum flow effectively recorded by different QIX equipments, it constated which the current on January 1982 stated a decennial order. The river water statistically repeted during 10 years in medium.

The Auvézère is an inner abundant river, monts of other water courses of the basin of the Dordogne issues a more eastern area of Massif Central. The water flow without the basin is 300 mm per year, other rivers are 623 mm in Bergerac with the Vézère (590 mm in Montignax and the end of the course. The specific current of the river (or Qsp) measured at 9.7 l/s and per km carried at the basin.
