The river begins at 480 m above sea level in the
Massif Central mountains in theHaute-Vienne department and the Limousin region. Its source is south of the commune ofSaint-Germain-les-Belles . The river runs through theCorrèze department, in the areaPérigord Vert . In the Dordogne department, it flows into the river Isle inBassillac . NearCubjac , at the Moulin de Soucis, part of its water is diverged to the Isle.River course

The Auvézère is an abundant river, with the part of the water course. It observed during the period of 28 years (between 1976 and 2007), the area is situated ahead of
Isle River . The surface study extend to 884 km².The annual river flow at
Le Change station is 8.52 m³/sAuvézère is a river with seasonal flows. High water levels occur during winter and early spring, with median flows between 12.2 and 16.8 m³/s, between December and April includes (with the maximum level in January). During May, the flow rapidly diminises to 4.62 m³/s in June. The waterlevel drops between July and September; the water flow is 1.87 m³/s in August.
The VCN3 calculated at 0.22 m³/s, in which during the 50 year period, 200 l/s, in which it qualifies for a severe flow.
