Paul Stokes

Paul Stokes (born 30 April 1972 in Dublin) is a former Irish footballer.

A striker he made a League of Ireland scoring debut for Waterford United at Bray Wanderers on the 31st of October 1993. In total he scored 7 goals in 13 appearances for the Blues before moving to Newry Town.

Paul was then transferred to Cliftonville F.C. for £10,000 where he really made his mark in two good seasons at Solitude, their leading scorer in 1996/97 with 18 goals which included a County_Antrim_Shield win.

Scored Cliftonville's first ever goal at home in European competition in a UEFA Intertoto Cup game in July 1996 [http://ifapremiership.com/cliftonvilleeuropedetail.htm] .

He joined Shamrock Rovers in the summer of 1997 on a Bosman [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_19970615/ai_n14464875] where in his one season he scored 3 league goals in 16 appearances. Overall he scored 5 times in 22 total appearances for the Hoops including one appearance in European competition.
