Francis Baylie (also variously spelt "Bayley" or "Bailey") was a
shipbuilder based inBristol ,England , during the 17th century, a well establishedmerchant ship builder who also builtwarships for theEnglish Royal Navy . The yard's first recorded navy orders resulted from Parliament approval on28 September 1652 for afourth rate during theCommonwealth of England period [Winfield, Rif (2005).
