Skenfrith ( _cy. Ynysgynwraidd)is a village in Monmouthshire, south east Wales, in the United Kingdom.

Location

Skenfrith is located on the River Monnow [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/248733] , the border between Wales and England, approximately five miles north west of Monmouth.

History & Amenities

Skenfrith is most famous for Skenfrith Castle, one of the three 'trilateral' castles of the Kingdom of Gwent, built after the Norman conquest by Marcher Lords to subjugate and dominate this part of the turbulent Welsh Marches into the medieval period.

St. Bridget's church, first mentioned in 1207, is also sited within the village [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/47921] .
