The department patrols an area of approximately 1.4 square miles in this rural town located in southern Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. The town's population is approximately 659 (2000 census).

The department has one (1) full time officer, and at least five (5) part time officers. The department's main office is located at 112 LA Highway 3050, Morganza, LA 70759.

The department's main area of responsibility is law enforcement and community service within the corporate limits of the Village of Morganza. It's officers are occasionally tasked to assist other area police agencies such as the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office, the Louisiana State Police, and Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries. The Morganza Police Department has a strong traffic enforcement presence along Louisiana Highway 1 and Louisiana Highway 10.

Patrol Vehicles

The main patrol vehicle utilized by this department is the Ford Crown Victoria "Police Interceptor." The Chevrolet Impala is also used by the department.

Duty Weapons

Prior to 2003, the department had no standard issue duty weapon, and all officers had to supply their own weapons. In 2003, the standard issue weapon for the Morganza Police Department became the Beretta 92, 9mm semi-automatic handgun. These were purchased from a local gun shop, Landry's Guns. The department has also begun issuing shotguns in their patrol cars, including at least one Ithaca Model 37 riot shotgun.
