alternate history in which theUnited Kingdom made peace withNazi Germany (againstWinston Churchill 's wishes) in 1941. The narrative alternates between the perspectives of Lucy Kahn, daughter of the proprietors of the Farthing estate, andScotland Yard Inspector Peter Carmichael, the police officer assigned to the case.A sequel, "Ha'penny", was released in October 2007 by Tor Books. A third novel in the series, "Half a Crown", is set to come out in August 2008, also from Tor.
