video game industry the word "scavenger hunt" is sometimes attributed to 3Dplatform game s that concentrate on the collection of specific items in order to progress through the game. "Super Mario 64 " and theMetroid series are widely attributed to be the first such gamesFact|date=March 2008, while theBanjo-Kazooie series, "Donkey Kong 64 " and "" carried on the traditionFact|date=March 2008. The current series of GTA games (from "GTA III" on) have had side bonuses for collecting a number of given objects; for example, 100 packets found on "GTA 3" would give you access to atank , as would 100 tiki statues on Vice City. These are side aims when exploring terrain, and not forced missions. Also, one might say the popularPokémon franchise is based on this trend, as the players are encouraged to catch all Pokémon available.References
