His first appearance was on the Nickelodeon show "
Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide " as a background character named Lionel Scaunton [NDSSG episode "Yearbooks" ] . He appeared in numerous episodes of "Ned's Declassified". He then appeared on theDisney Channel show "Hannah Montana " in the episode "Oops, I Meddled Again!" as Toby, a boy being broken up with and he also had a small role in another "Hannah Montana " episode "My Best Friend's Boyfriend" as Lilly's boyfriend's cousin Derek. He appeared on the Nickelodeon show, "Zoey 101 " as James Garrett, a new student at PCA, in season 4. He dated Zoey after Chase left, but she ended up breaking up with him in the series finale "Chasing Zoey ". Also, previously before he became James Garrett, he is seen in the episode "Quarantine" where he appeared to be Stacey Dillsen's date by the name of Dannifer, and was mistaken for Zoey's date by her brother Dustin. Austin appeared in another Nickelodeon show, iCarly, as Jake Krandle in the episode "iLike Jake". Carly liked him and he appeared on her webshow.His biggest role is to be Michael and Logan's roommate, James Garret, on "Zoey 101". He took Sean Flynn's place as a main character starting with Season 4, episode 4, "Rumor of Love". Butler is also in the up-coming movie "
