Heronswood is a botanical garden in Kingston, Washington, USA, established by Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones in 1987. Heronswood is a display garden exhibiting plant varieties collected and propagated for introduction into the North American nursery trade. The display garden has been featured internationally as an example of environmentally sensitive and botanically impressive plantsmanship. The real estate and nursery business associated with it were bought by the W. Atlee Burpee Company in 2000. Heronswood is both a botanical garden and catalog resource for rare and unusual plants, originally established by Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones in 1987. Heronswood itself may be best known for its original Pacific Northwest display garden situated on 15 picturesque acres in Kingston, Washington. Today, Heronswood Nursery is a wholly owned subsidiary of Burpee Seed Co. and consists of more than convert|150|acre|km2 of land scattered throughout various locations in the Mid-Atlantic, Pacific Northwest as well as in England. Plant research and production encompasses four USDA hardiness zones including zones 5-9.
