Stephen James Murphy

Stephen James Murphy (born December 11, 1981) is a professional ice hockey goaltender from Scotland, United Kingdom.

Murphy was born in Dundee, and began playing hockey at the age of 5. He started his professional career in Britain with the Fife Flyers, where he helped them win the Scottish Cup final. At the age of 17, he became the goaltender for the Great Britain National Team. Since then, he has played for a variety of teams, including the Omaha Lancers, and the Cleveland Barons in the United States, and Dundee Stars, Bracknell Bees and Edinburgh Capitals in the United Kingdom.

Starting his European career with Swedish Division 1 team Bräcke Hockey, Murphy became known for his speed and agility in front of the goal, and after 3 months, was asked by Allsvenskan team Björklöven to play out the remainder of the season for them. The following year he signed a deal to play for IFK Arboga in the same Allsvenskan league.

Murphy is currently playing in the Norwegian Elitserien, the highest league in Norway, as the goaltender for the team Stjernen Hockey in Fredrikstad. He plans to continue to play in the World Championships with the Great Britain National Team.
