"Giffordius" is a gastropod genus, consisting of terrestrial snails in the family Polygyridae. The two known species, found on New Providence, Bahamas, were named after the early conservationist and politician, Gifford Pinchot and his wife, Cornelia, who discovered them. [Miller, Char. 2001. Gifford Pinchot and the making of modern environmentalism. Island Press: p. 300] These snails are unusual among polygyrids in being ovoviviparous rather than oviparous. [Pilsbry, Henry A. 1940. Land Mollusca of North America (North of Mexico). Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, Monograph 3, vol. 1(2): 577.] The genus "Giffordius" contains the following species:
* "Giffordius corneliae"
* "Giffordius pinchotii"
