Detroit Tigers in the 38th round (1137th overall) in the2001 Major League Baseball Draft . He did not sign with them and was then taken by theMinnesota Twins in the 15th round (452nd overall) in2002 Major League Baseball Draft .Harben began his professional career for the Rookie League
Gulf Coast Twins in by|2002. In 12 games with them, he had a 3.20 ERA to go with a 4-1 record. For the next two season, he played for the Single-AQuad City River Bandits . In by|2005, he was promoted to the Advanced Single-AFort Myers Miracle . Playing in 25 games, all starts, he had a 10-5 record with a 2.66 ERA.On
November 18 , 2005, the Twins purchased his contract, protecting him from theRule 5 Draft . Harben was promoted to the Double-ANew Britain Rock Cats in by|2006. He played in 29 games for them, 22 of them were starts, and had a 4-9 record despite a 3.96 ERA.
