Jairo Cuevas

Jairo Mark Cuevas (born January 24, 1984 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves.

Cuevas was originally signed as an undrafted free agent on March 20, by|2003. Cuevas began his professional career in by|2004, playing at the rookie level. In his first season, he had a 2-3 record to got with a 2.77 ERA. Cuevas stayed at the rookie level in by|2005, playing for the Danville Braves. Making 10 starts in 12 games, he had a 6-1 record with a 1.91 ERA. He was also named to the Appalachian League postseason All-Star team.

Cuevas advanced to Single-A in by|2006, playing for the Rome Braves. His below average performance was marked by a 7-12 record with a 5.55 ERA. In by|2007, he played for the Single-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In 25 games, all starts, he had a 6-12 record despite a 3.55 ERA.

On November 20, 2007, the Braves purchased his contract, protecting him from the Rule 5 Draft.
