Presidential elections will be held in Somaliland on 29 March 2009. [ [http://www.unpo.org/content/view/8169/142/ UNPO - Somaliland: Elections Slated for December 2008 ] ] This was heavily criticised by the opposition -- in the end, a compromise led to the date of 6 April 2009, [ [http://www.unpo.org/content/view/8275/142/ UNPO - Somaliland: Agreement Reached on Election date ] ] which was later changed to one week before that.
