Cynthia Robinson (born January 12, 1946 in Sacramento, California) is an American musician, best known for being the trumpeter and vocalist in the popular and influential psychedelic soul/funk band Sly & the Family Stone. Robinson is notable for being one of the first (both) black and female trumpet players in a major American band, and also for being the only member of the original Family Stone clan to continue working with Sly Stone after the band fell apart in 1975.
Cynthia also played in the funk band Graham Central Station with Family Stone bandmate Larry Graham, starting in 1974.
She is the mother of two daughters: Laura Marie (a spoken word artist whose mic tag is 'immoBme') and Sylvette Phunne (rapper and songstress known as 'Raw Syl'). Sylvette Phunne is the second of three children fathered by Sly Stone.
Robinson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Sly & the Family Stone.
In 2006, Robinson reunited with the original Family Stone.
