- Martini draft
-
The Martini drafts are contributions made to the IETF's PWE3 (Pseudo Wire Emulation Edge-to-Edge) working group by Luca Martini of Cisco Systems (formerly of Level 3 Communications) and a number of other authors. They define a method to transport a layer 2 protocol across an MPLS network.
The "Martini-trans" draft defines the transport mechanism using the LDP protocol.
The "Martini-encaps" series of drafts defines how specific layer 2 protocols are encapsulated prior to being carried in the MPLS network. Provision is made for SONET/SDH, Ethernet, ATM and frame relay.
The encapsulation defined by the "Martini-drafts" has been published as a "Historical" RFC -- RFC 4905 -- Encapsulation Methods for Transport of Layer 2 Frames over MPLS Networks.
