The magazine, "Isthmus Herald", where he worked for 10 years, published his first verses.Miró travelled to Spain and between 1908 and 1911 where he had the position of consul in
Barcelona . In 1909 publishes his poem "Native Land", where nostalgia stands out for the feels of being far from his land. He returns to Panama where he held the position of the National Archives director (1919-1927) and Panamanian Academy of Language secretary (1926-1940).His poetry with its "themes of love, of patriotic emotion and of admiration in the presence of landscapes" unified national feeling and influenced the republic movement in Panama.
Miró is known as the national poet of Panama.
Events
A posthumous annual literary prize was named in his honour, the Ricardo Miró National Literary Contest of the Republic of Panama.
