All volunteer commissioned Officers in the Air Cadet organisation hold the Queen's Commission as Officers in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch) - otherwise known as RAFVR(T). The majority serve as the adult personnel in executive command of, and lead instructors at,

Sovereign 'sCommission , as part of theAir Forces of the Crown, they are due compliments, respects and entitlements appropriate to the style and title of rank they hold.To distinguish RAFVR(T) officers from their counterparts in the regular RAF (and its active reserves) a brass (more commonly now made of staybrite gilt)
VRT branch badge is worn in the centre of their rank slide on the shoulder tabs of No2A and No2B blues working dress, and normally on all other orders of working dress includingCS95 and flying coveralls, although most VRT flying instructors will not wear the pins when flying as they present aFOD hazard. The 'VRT' branch badge is also worn on the lapels of the No1 and No5 dress jackets, in the same fashion as the 'A' badges still currently worn by Officers andWarrant Officer s in the modern-day [http://www.rafreserves.com Royal Auxiliary Air Force] (RAuxAF). The 1947 pattern VRT badge design was derived from the VR branch badges worn by Officers and Warrant Officers that served during WW2 (and also those worn post-war, up until 1997, by members of the war-appointable reserve flights of theRAFVR ).
