Carole Simpson

Carole Simpson was an American television news anchor at ABC News.

Biography

Born Dec. 7, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. Received B.A. from the University of Michigan, 1962. Married James Edward Marshall Sept. 3, 1966.

Simpson joined ABC in 1982, and the anchor of the Sunday edition of "World News Tonight" from 1988 until October 2003.

Simpson was the moderator of the second presidential debate held between Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush, at Richmond, Virginia in 1992. This made her the first woman and first African American to moderate a presidential debate.

In 2008, Simpson was the Schwartz visiting fellow at the Pomfret School in Pomfret, Connecticut.

She appeared at my times as a surrogate of Senator Hillary Clinton's Presidential campaign until she dropped out.

Simpson is currently the Leader-In-Residence in the Journalism Department of Emerson College.
