George E. Lounsbury (

Lounsbury was born in Poundridge,
New York onMay 7 ,1838 . He studied atYale University and graduated in 1863. He then went toBerkeley Divinity School and graduated in 1866. He partnered with his brothers,Phineas C. Lounsbury , and founded two successful shoe factories - the Lounsbury Brothers Inc., a shoe factory and Lounsbury, Matthewson, and Company.Politics
Lounsbury became a member of the Connecticut State Senate in 1894 and held the position until 1898. He became the
Governor of Connecticut onJanuary 4 ,1899 . During his term, he vetoed many bills that helped to reduce the state deficit. He left office onJanuary 9 ,1901 .Perosnal life
Lounsbury married to Frances Josephine Potwin. He also was an Episcopalian minister at one point. He died on
