Sedoheptulose-bisphosphatase

Sedoheptulose-bisphosphatase

In enzymology, a sedoheptulose-bisphosphatase (EC number|3.1.3.37) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction

:sedoheptulose 1,7-bisphosphate + H2O ightleftharpoons sedoheptulose 7-phosphate + phosphate

Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are sedoheptulose 1,7-bisphosphate and H2O, whereas its two products are sedoheptulose 7-phosphate and phosphate.

This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases, specifically those acting on phosphoric monoester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphate 1-phosphohydrolase. Other names in common use include SBPase, sedoheptulose 1,7-diphospate phosphatase, sedoheptulose 1,7-diphosphatase, sedoheptulose diphosphatase, sedoheptulose bisphosphatase, and sedoheptulose 1,7-bisphosphatase. This enzyme participates in carbon fixation.
