- Inorganic diphosphatase
In
enzymology , an inorganic diphosphatase (EC number|3.6.1.1) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :diphosphate + H2O 2 phosphate
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are
diphosphate and H2O, whereas its product isphosphate .This enzyme belongs to the family of
hydrolase s, specifically those acting on acid anhydrides in phosphorus-containing anhydrides. The systematic name of this enzyme class is diphosphate phosphohydrolase. This enzyme participates inoxidative phosphorylation . It employs one cofactor, metal .tructural studies
