Gjon Gazulli or Gjin Gazulli (
Latin : "Johannes Gasulus;" Serbian: "Ivan Gazulić;"Gjadër ,1400 -Republic of Ragusa ,February 19 ,1465 )Albania n Dominican friar, Humanist scholar, diplomat.He attended schools in
Shkodra and Ragusa, and graduated at theUniversity of Padua in1425 . In1432 he travelled to the Hungarian royal court where he attempted to persuade Sigismund I in supporting Albanian resistance against theOttoman Empire . He broke his mission off in1433 when he was appealed to be a professor for themathematics andastronomy at the University ofPadua . In addition he was acting as a diplomat representing interests of the Republic of Ragusa and Albania.His lasting mathematical and astronomical works were written in Latin. He was renowned for his considerable knowledge, in Italy and in Hungary, as well. His brother,
Pal Gazulli (1405-1470) was the deputy ofSkanderbeg in Ragusa.References
