James W. Skillen is a
Christian theologian andauthor . He was theexecutive director of theCenter for Public Justice (a Christian policythinktank ) from 1981 to 2000, at which time he becamepresident . He helped found the organisation in 1977.Education
He pursued
undergraduate studies atWheaton College , Wheaton,Illinois , majoring inphilosophy . He received aBachelor of Divinity from theWestminster Theological Seminary ,Chestnut Hill , outsidePhiladelphia . Skillen then studied philosophy at theFree University of Amsterdam where he attendedlecture s in the courses ofHerman Dooyeweerd , Professor of Law and renowned Christian philosopher. Skillen completed adoctorate inpolitical science atDuke University underJohn Hallowell . Today Skillen is a scholar-practitioner in political science.killen as Author
Skillen has written much, both for the Christian public and for academic
journal s. His works include "The Scattered Voice: Christians at Odds in the Public Square", which was described as "remarkable" and "meticulously fair" byMark Noll , a professor of Wheaton College.
