Sportsperson of the Year of the Czech Republic

Sportsperson of the Year of the Czech Republic ( _cs. Sportovec roku České republiky) is an award given to the best Czech Sportsperson and the best Czech sport team of the current year by Sport Journalists' Club ( _cs. Klub sportovních novinářů, KSN). The award was given on December 17 1959 for the first time. The first team was awarded in 1961. Originally the sportspeople and teams of the Czechoslovakia were awarded. Since the state was dissoluted, only Czech sportspeople and teams have been awarded. Since 2000, the KSN has voted also for a Sport Legend. This award has been called The Emil Zátopek Award since 2001, after the first chosen legend Emil Zátopek. Since 2002, Czech Foundation of the Sport Representation in cooperation with the KSN awards the best Czech junior sportsperson of the year.
