HMS Leander (1882)

HMS "Leander" was a second class cruiser, name ship of the Royal Navy's first "Leander"-class cruisers.

She was built by Napier in Glasgow, being laid down in 1880, launched in 1883 and completed in 1886. She served in the Mediterranean from 1886 to 1893, was in reserve in HMNB Devonport from 1893 to 1897, and then served in the Pacific from 1997 to 1903. She did harbour service in Devonport from 1904 to 1913 before she was sold to become TS "Indefatigable". She was renamed "Carrick II" in 1941 and broken up, by Wards in Preston, in 1947.
