Troon, Arizona

Troon Village, Arizona is a large-scale residential development in North Scottsdale, Arizona. At convert|2400|ft|m elevation, temperatures are cooler in this enclave than throughout much of the rest of Phoenix, Arizona. Part of Troon Village is the "Troon Country Club", which contains convert|1400|acre|km2 of developed land and has been in operation since 1986. Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, the course has five tee markers which allow the course's length to vary from 5,167 to 7,041 yards. In 1995, just nine years after its opening, the country club was purchased by members and became a privately-owned golf club. The golf club is best known for its environmentally sensitive development, which conserves the Sonoran Desert while offering members usage of the land.
