Sebastian von Lahnstein is a fictional character on German soap opera "Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love)". The character is portrayed by Joscha Kiefer since November 26, 2007.

Character's background

Sebastian is the nephew of Johannes von Lahnstein (Thomas Gumpert). He studied at Harvard University and comes in late 2007 to Düsseldorf. He runs into Jana von Lahnstein (Vanessa Jung), who has a car breakdown. Sebastian helps her and tells Jana, that he would like to see her again. Jana says that she is married, but she would like to see him again too. She wants to give him her number, when she says her full name. Sebastian hears the name Lahnstein and runs away. Later, Sebastian sits in theoffice of Adrian Degenhardt (Klaus Zmorek) and wants to help him with his war against Johannes and the Lahnstein family. Sebastian is angry with his uncle, because his father Ludwig told him, how much pain Johannes cost him and that he is responsible that their father cut Ludwig out of his will.Adrian takes him with to a Charity-Event at Königsbrunn and Sebastian sees the castle for the first time since Ludwig left it with him. When the Event begins and Johannes meets his nephew for the first time after twenty years, he can't remember and doesn't listen to him, because of his contact to Adrian. Not known who Sebastian is, he finally stays up, when the Charity-Auction starts and says that he his Sebastian von Lahnstein, the son of Ludwig. Johannes and all other family members are shocked. Adrian enjoys another scandal for the Lahnstein's. Johannes is surprised to see Sebastian after all this years and wants to speak with him. He agrees and both men get outside. But it doesn't need a long time and they are fighting, about what happened in the past. When Johannes tries to explain things, Sebastian isn't really listen to him and says to his uncle that Adrian was the only one he could ever count on and that he paid for his scholastics. Johannes warns Sebastian, that he can't trust Adrian. But his nephew makes clear, that he is only man he can't trust is him.

After the Charity-Event Carla (Claudia Hiersche) decides to pays her cousin a visit. Sebastian is surprised and believes that Johannes send her. But Carla only wants to speak with him after all these years. Both enjoy breakfast together, when the subject changed and they come to speak to Johannes, Sebastian wouldn't listen what Carla have to say. Later, Carla wants to know from Johannes what really happened. When he discovers that Sebastian isn't maybe a bad person after all, he pays him a visit in Adrian's office. Johannes invites him to come for Dinner to Königsbrunn. Soon after, Sebastian meets Constantin (Milan Marcus) and is surprised, when Constantin tells him, that he is Adrian's son, but he only used him to get back at Johannes. Sebastian is confused and wants to know answers. But, with Adrian, he asks the wrong person. He tells him a few more lies about Johannes and Sebastian goes to Dinner. He can't keep his anger and says his uncle, what he is thinking about him. Johannes is shocked and wants Sebastian to leave the castle.

After that Sebastian wants to be loyal to Adrian and fight on his side against the Lahnstein's. Carla and Constantin tell him all about Adrian and what he did in the past to their family. But Sebastian doesn't believe them. Then he gets a call from Tanja von Anstetten (Miriam Lahnstein) in Adrian's office. Tanja doesn't realize at first that she does not speak to Adrian. When Sebastian finally tells her who he is, she hang up. But Sebastian is curios and for the first time he doubt Adrian's motives. He asks Carla about Tanja and her son Hannes, who both supposed to be death. Sebastian begins to fight against Adrian, when he tries to bring Hannes - together with Carla and Leonard (Lars Korten) - back to his father. When Johannes finds out, that Sebastian helped to bring his grandson back, he tries to give their relationship another chance. Johannes shows Sebastian letters, he once wrote to Ludwig. Sebastian can't believe that his father maybe lied about his brother and that Johannes is right. Sebastian wants to leave town, but then he begins to read and believes Johannes, that his father was only too proud to take Johannes' help. When Sebastian wants to speak with Johannes, he already flied to a business trip. Before Johannes finds out that Sebastian finally believes him, his plane falls into the Atlantic. Johannes' body is never found, but he is official death.

Sebastian decides to stay in Düsseldorf after he meets Lydia Brandner (Theresa Underberg). He falls in love with her, but their feelings become to a big problem, when Lydia, who works at the Department of Children's and Young Peoples' Affairs, finds out, that her first case is about the little Hannes, Tanja and Ansgar's son. But Sebastian doesn't give up on Lydia and plans a romantic dinner. Too bad Lydia doesn't come, because of a heist on her. Tanja, who was behind that, comes to Lydia's rescue and hopes that she will be thankful and the key to win her son back. But when Lydia finds out who Tanja really is, she says that she needs to be objective in her case. Sebastian warns Lydia about Tanja and wants to protect her. He plans another date for them and this time it works out and they have their first kiss.
