Carlton Street

Carlton Street

Carlton Street is a short east-west route in downtown Toronto, Canada. It starts east of Yonge Street, continuing the route of College Street. It forms the northern boundary of Allan Gardens between Jarvis Street and Sherbourne Street and then crosses Parliament Street in a staggered junction at the centre of the Cabbagetown business district and ends at Riverdale Farm just west of the Don River. To cross the Don River, a pedestrian footbridge spans the river in Riverdale Park. Vehicular traffic, such as the Toronto Transit Commission's 506 Carlton streetcar, must take Parliament Street south to Gerrard Street East, which takes them to Chinatown East.

Notable sites on the street

The most notable site on Carlton Street is Maple Leaf Gardens, the former home of the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club. The most infamous site on the street is probably 206 Carlton Street, former home of Holocaust denier Ernst Zündel.
