Lorenzo Veneziano

Lorenzo Veneziano

Lorenzo Veneziano (active 1357–1379) was an Italian painter. His earliest altar-piece was painted for the high altar of the church of Sant' Antonio di Castello, and is now in the Accademia at Venice. It is dated 1359, and represents the "Annunciation" with a portrait of the donor, Domenico Lion, the "Christ in benediction", and figures of various Saints, and was painted in conjunction with Francesco Bissolo. The Accademia also possesses an altar-piece by him executed in 1371. It consisted of five panels, on which an "Annunciation" and six figures of saints were painted, but it is now broken up into separate works. Also by Lorenzo are "Saviour Enthroned with Saints and Angels" (1369) in Correr Museum.
