Earl Antoine Boykins (born June 2 1976 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for Virtus Bologna in the Italian League. At 5 ft 5 in (1.65 m) in height, Boykins was the shortest active NBA player and the second shortest player in NBA history behind Muggsy Bogues, who was 5'3" (1.60 m).

College career

He played collegiately at Eastern Michigan University with their men's basketball team the Eastern Michigan Eagles from 1994 to 1998. He earned All-Mid-American Conference first team honors in his junior and senior year. During his senior year, Boykins was second in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship in scoring with an average of 26.8 points per game. He holds the career record for assists at his alma mater.

Boykins was never drafted by any NBA teams, but he was signed to short-term contracts by various NBA teams in the first few years of his career.

Italy

Earl Boykins took his basketball career overseas in the 2008 off season as he became the highest paid player in the Italian League, earning $3.5 million per year with the club Virtus Bologna.
